At least 35 suspected land grabbers who were arrested in Jebel Lado Payam on Friday are set to be arraigned in court after a critical investigation.
Last week, over forty suspected land grabbers were arrested in Jebel Lado of Juba County, Central Equatoria State, after causing havoc in the Molobor boma, burning houses, and displacing locals.
Eng. Charles Joseph Wani, the commissioner of Juba County, told the No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper yesterday that some SSPDF officers are among the detained suspected land grabbers in Gudele Kuburi Kaboba police station and will all be charged in the courts of law.
“Currently, we have 35 suspected land grabbers who are currently detained here, and these include a few SSPDF officers and some civilians,” ’he told this outlet.
The commissioner vowed to follow up on the matter until the suspects were charged accordingly.
“I can’t arrest culprits, and tomorrow they are set free. I will make sure that the law takes its cost,” he echoed.
Commissioner Charles has applauded the security department and the local community for their tireless efforts to see that Juba County and the city are free of land-related violence.
“I want to thank the security officers for working professionally and also coordinating with the community,” he noted.
“These exercises will continue until peace and justice are achieved in Juba,” he added.
The Commissioner appealed to a few government officials who are believed to be the influencers of land grabbing to desist from such acts and use the rightful way to acquire lands.
