Juba County legislator has urged youth to desist from unlawful lifestyles to embrace education and entrepreneurship.
Chairperson of standing specialized committee for information, youth, and sports, David Pitia Jada said youth should concentrate on improving their livelihoods.
Jada made this remark during an inspection of police units within Juba by county authorities on Wednesday.
“Youths should resist a life of crime, including using drugs, engaging in violence, rape and defilement, corruption, and the like,” he said.
He advised young people in Juba County to be responsible citizens who contribute to nation-building through productive activities.
“Engaging in such worthless activities makes you waste time that you would have used to enrich your lives through education, entrepreneurship, and other activities that are beneficial to you, your families, and your nation,” he added.
The Juba county councilor also reminded the youth to be ambassadors for the success of home-grown initiatives that uplift South Sudanese values, culture, self-reliance, and, above all, development.
Jada further urged the young people to spearhead the fight against illegal activities through community policing.
During the courtesy visit to Gudele police station by the local authorities, No. 1 Citizen Daily Newspaper established that over 30 youth between 18 and 30 years, are being detained for different crimes.
