Mangalla Payam community in Juba County, Central Equatoria State, over the weekend met with the State Governor, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo, to address pressing issues in their locality.
During the meeting, the Mangalla community leaders voiced concerns over land grabbing and random arrests occurring in their area.
Chief Abud Ladu attributed the problems to ineffective leadership and lack of security in the Payam.
In response, Governor Jadalla pledged to work closely with the Mangalla community to address their grievances.
“I call upon you all to work together in Unity,” the Governor said.
The meeting also covered other community issues, such as the need to improve infrastructure, facilitate the return of refugees, and strengthen social cohesion.
Representing the politicians from the area, Tom Tongun assured the Governor of the Mangalla people’s willingness to cooperate with the state government.
Separately, the Governor also met with the Kakwa community leadership, acknowledging their pivotal role in supporting the SPLA during the liberation struggle.
He urged the Kakwa leaders to focus on unifying their community rather than dwelling on divisive matters, while also promising to address their border disputes with neighbouring groups.
The Community presented to the Governor a number of crosscutting issues ranging from the need to improve stability across the County, the return of refugees, road infrastructure and basic needs.
Mr. Simon Sebit, the Chairperson of the Kakwa Community said the community is also having border issues with some of their neighboring communities.
He assured the Governor of the support of the Kakwa community in his Administration.
