Saint Peter Clever Parish calls for support

By Ijoo Bosco

Faithful of Lowoi are urgently seeking help to restore the deteriorating Saint Peter Clever Parish.

The church is in dire need of repairs to preserve its cultural heritage and provide a safe and welcoming space for worship.

The parish priest, Fr. Joseph Aruma Quintous, urged well-wishers to assist in renovating the church and building a priest’s house.

He highlighted the lack of mobility to reach nearby chapels for evangelization and the difficulties faced due to the current living situation in a teacher’s quarters.

A delegation from Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) visited the parish to assess their needs.

Kinga Schierstaedt, the team leader, explained ACN’s mission to support the pastoral needs of churches and priests.

The main challenges identified were the dilapidated state of the church, posing a safety hazard, and the lack of a proper residence for the priests.

Schierstaedt emphasized that ACN relies on donations from individuals, not a large bank account.

He encouraged the community to share their story and called on potential donors to contribute to the project.

Fr. Aruma urged the delegation for a swift response to address these critical issues before the rainy season.

He expressed gratitude to the Bishop and the delegation for their visit and firsthand assessment of the parish’s needs.

The delegation was led by Bishop Ameyo Mulla and included Kinga Schierstaedt, the ACN team leader for Africa and head of the South Sudan section.
