Yei Joint Stars FC announced the appointment of Bilal Felix Komoyange as their new Head Coach, ahead of the upcoming Confederations of African Football Women’s Championship.
Komoyange will lead the Yei Queens, who will represent South Sudan in the 2024 CAF Women’s CECAFA qualifiers.
Yei Joint Stars secured this opportunity after claiming their third consecutive South Sudan Women’s League title in April, defeating Tiger United of Aweil 3-0.
The experienced coach boasts a history of overseeing teams in Juba and the U-20 National Team. His immediate task is to prepare the Yei Queens for the CECAFA qualifiers, scheduled for August 17th to September 1st in Ethiopia.
This appointment aligns with the CAF’s directive requiring participating clubs to have coaches with a CAF A License Coaching Certificate. Komoyange will be assisted by Sony Harriet Alfred, who holds a CAF C License and led Yei Joint Stars to their recent league victory.
Prior to joining Yei Joint Stars, Komoyange coached Malakia FC Juba but resigned before completing the 2023/2024 season under the Juba Local Football Association. He is also the founder and former technical director of Future Stars Football Academy (FSFA) in Juba.
According to FIFA statistics, Komoyange has overseen 11 matches across various South Sudan National Teams, recording 3 wins (27.27%), 2 draws (18.18%), and 6 losses (54.55%). Notably, under his leadership, South Sudan achieved an 8-0 aggregate victory against Djibouti in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers preliminary round, and a 3-0 win against Djibouti again at the 2015 CECAFA competition in Addis Ababa.
