By William Madouk

A 19-year-old girl, primary 8 student at Gwerekek Primary School was allegedly raped and hanged to death by unknown assailants in Molobur area of Jebel Lado Payam, Juba County.

The girl identified as Lilian Henry Musa Dion, was among the candidates siting the ongoing Primary Leaving Examinations.

According to Edward Dion, the uncle of the deceased, late Lilian just walked a few meters away from the school compound while on a phone call and fell into the hands of assailants who raped and killed her.

“She is called Lilian Henry Musa, 19 years old from Jebel Lado and she was sitting for primary eight examinations,” said Edward, who is also an MP representing Lado East Payam in the CES legislative assembly.

Mr. Edward stated that the late Lilian was with her colleagues for a revision at school as they prepared for exams. However, when she stepped out while on the phone, suspected land grabbers assaulted her and hanged her to death.

“At around 8 PM when doing a revision at school, she received a phone call and Lilian stepped out to classrooms next to the washroom when criminal land grabbers assaulted, raped and gruesomely killed her,” he stated.

The legislator said medical report indicates that she was gang-raped before she was killed.

The Molobour Area has been experiencing waves of land-grabbing incidents in the past years.

In August, three young men were gunned down by alleged land grabbers in Molobur boma.

During the burial, the commissioner of Juba County Eng. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon swore to leave no stone unturned until culprits are brought to book and justice prevails.

He also promised to uproot the land gangs that torment Jebel Lado plot owners.

Molobur and Bori villages have been witnessing serious land grabs, residents alleged that grabbers assaulted, chased them away, and they even lost their loved ones while trying to resist well-armed land gangs.

Inhabitants also faced awful situations that forced thousands to leave their homes behind as they sought settlement amid appalling humanitarian situations caused by deluges’ nightmares.
