Yei River County, Central Equatoria State, held its general staff meeting on Wednesday. Various departments attended to discuss challenges and promote cooperation within the local government.
Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme initiated the meeting with the goal of identifying the obstacles faced by different departments.
During the meeting, Taban identified that there was a need to train staff, particularly urging the Director of Peace Building and Planning to organize sessions aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of employees.
He said investing in the training of staff will empower them to improve the quality of work and services provided to communities.
Taban also tasked the revenue department with enhancing revenue collection efforts.
He said improving financial resources is essential for the county to provide better services.
He stressed that increased revenue would enable the administration to address pressing community needs effectively.
Meanwhile, County Executive Director John Hillary Konga highlighted the importance of accountability within the administration.
He said the meeting was meant to promote a culture of cooperation and transparency among departments, stating that “we must avoid placing blame on local employees when it comes to accountability.”
“The whole departments need training so that they are able to work with confidence despite all the economic challenges making life very difficult for others” He added.
Among the attendees was administrative officer Juan Annette, who expressed her appreciation for the commissioner’s efforts, particularly regarding the construction of the Kanjoro Bridge.
“It’s the first for me to have such a nice meeting with the commissioner of Yei because since I got the job I haven’t seen people coming together,” he stated.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from local government officials to work collaboratively in addressing the challenges facing Yei River County.
