Former Central Equatoria State Governor Clement Wani Konga was among a group of visionaries recognized as Community Champions at the 2nd Mundari Cultural Festival in Terekeka County.
The award, presented by the Terekeka County Youth Association, acknowledged their contributions to peacebuilding, community empowerment, and the overall advancement of the Mundari people within Central Equatoria State and South Sudan.
Held under the theme “Our Culture, Our Strength,” the festival extended beyond entertainment to serve as a platform for peace reconciliation and the recognition of individuals who have positively impacted their communities.
The event brought together people from diverse backgrounds to share experiences, engage in cultural exchange, and celebrate the rich heritage of the Mundari people.
In addition to his role as a former governor and presidential advisor, Clement Wani Konga is widely respected for his commitment to national issues and his current position as Chairperson of the Mundari Community. He is known for consistently advocating for unity and cooperation among the Mundari people, within Central Equatoria State, and across South Sudan.
In addition to his contribution to the Liberation Struggle, Konga was with a steadfast commitment and integrity to unify Equatoria and foster peaceful coexistence.
With such effort, he earned respect from both the young and old in his community and beyond in addition to accumulated wisdom.
Other visionaries who received similar awards included Gen. Zacharia Legge, known for his fierce determination in the duration of liberation as well as his effort in preaching peace in the state and the country.
Dr. Alex Bolek, a dedicated physician, made significant contributions to uplifting his homeland by establishing a primary school in Mundari Bura was also awarded.
Dr. Makoy Samuel, Mr. Bush Buse , Asunta Paul, Chief Benensio Modi Wani, Gemeiza Kakule Kwajok (Gemeiza First Lady), Chief Raimondo Loku Tongun, Hon. John Bero, and Mr. John Pitia Ajak, were also awarded.
In the spirit of celebration and recognition, these great leaders embody the essence of the Mundari culture, where strength, unity, and pride converge to forge a brighter tomorrow.
