Central Equatoria State Governor, Gen. Augustino Jadalla and his team arrived in Terekeka County yesterday after a three-month pause of the governor’s inter-county tour.
While in Terekeka, Jadalla is expected to conduct several engagements including meetings with various stakeholders and rallies.
He will meet with government authorities, elders, youth, women, religious leaders and chiefs to acquaint himself with the general socio-economic and security situation of the County.
This move comes a day after the governor met and briefed President Salva Kiir about the general security situation across the state.
Among other issues discussed during the meeting include the challenges posed by armed cattle herders from Jonglei State, the Wonduruba and Jebel Iraq cold murder of over 20 people and the efforts of the state government to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable.
“Governor briefed the President about the challenges posed by armed cattle herders from Jonglei State, insecurity in other parts of the State and particularly one in Wonduruba Administrative Payam and Jebel Iraq that subsequently took place last October and the efforts the State government is making such as bringing the perpetrators to book,” stated the president’s press unit.
Jadalla also briefed the President about his plans to complete his state tour in parts of Terekeka and Juba Counties. The tour is objectively aimed at consolidating durable peace, unity, security and stability in the State.
Last year, Jadalla started his inter-county tour and visited Wonduruba Administrative Payam after Lainya County on the 8th of October, where he engaged with the local community and authorities, but sorrow struck behind as he proceeded to Yei, Morobo and Kajokeji counties.
Over 20 people mostly civilians were brutally killed in a series of counter-attacks between former members of the National Salvation Front (NAS) and the national army, in Wonduruba Administrative Area and Ganji/Jebel Iraq of Juba County.
Following the incident, Jadalla revisited Wonduruba condemning the brutal killings and assured the public that the state government and security forces would conduct a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He then formed an ad-hoc committee headed by Angelo Daya, Advisor for Peace and Security of Central Equatoria State government, tasked to scrutinize and bring the perpetrators of the incident to law.
