Displaced Kajo-Keji residents in dire need

Over 70 individuals displaced in Jalimo Boma, Kangapo II Payam, Kajo Keji County, Central Equatoria State, are need of assistance.

The population was displace following an attack allegedly carried out by forces loyal to the National Salvation Front (NAS), led by Gen. Thomas Cirilo.

According to Kajo Keji Youth Association those affected by violence on Sunday, are primarily children, the elderly, and women.

Several people fled into the bush, fearing for their lives, leaving behind their belongings and livelihoods.
Fifteen houses were reported, set ablaze, and three soldiers were killed in the attack. Tragically, three of the soldiers’ children were reportedly thrown into the fire.

Longa Joseph Loku, Secretary to the Youth Association, stated that the displaced families urgently need food, temporary shelter, blankets, cooking utensils, water, and sanitation services.

He emphasized the critical need for medical services, especially for children and vulnerable groups with pre-existing conditions.

Loku added that the attack has caused fear and trauma among Jalimo Boma residents and the entire County.
He appealed to the business community, faith-based organizations, and the public for psychosocial support services to help victims recover and cope with the situation.

The association secretary condemned Sunday’s attack and called for unity and compassion.

He stressed that residents of Kajo Keji County, both within the country and in the diaspora, should unite to support the affected community in Jalimo Boma for them to fully recover.

“We condemn this senseless act of violence in the strongest terms,” stated Loku. “We recognize the immense challenges those affected face as they struggle to cope with the loss of their homes, possessions, and sense of security. In moments of crisis like this, we must come together, join hands, and offer support to our people in Jalimo Boma,” he said.

Army spokesperson Maj. Gen. Lual Raul Koang said on Monday afternoon that NAS forces attacked the Jalimo Army barracks in Kajo Keji County at 6 AM on Sunday. The attack resulted in houses being burned to ashes, and three service members and two children were killed.

Gen. Koang stated that two children, from the same family, were burned beyond recognition. This incident caused fear and panic among the community, forcing many to flee into the bush.
However, NAS rebel is yet to state a claim
