Nation Talk

Ladies, work for yourselves before you are exploited like chickens during leisure time or on weekends.

Do anything – it could be washing plates in hotels or any job that can change your life – rather than relying on men’s money, which is often problematic. Your own earnings are more valuable than someone else’s money. Be responsible for yourselves.

These days, many concerning incidents are happening within Juba Municipality. Just last week, an incident occurred at Texas Hotel where a lady was found dead. On the 8th of this month, there was another fatal shooting in Rambur, a violation of human rights and a criminal case.

Last year, in the Suk Sita residential area, a man killed his partner over $900 instead of arresting her and handing her over to the police station. Another incident also happened near popular weekend spots where a young girl was found undressed, partially clothed, surrounded by boda-bodas and two men she had been with. Therefore, to avoid abuse from men, be independent.

In Juba, these days, underage girls and women who are unemployed often dress more extravagantly than those who contribute to the country or their communities. They lack self-respect when talking to elders and socialize with married men who sometimes neglect their family responsibilities or are simply passing time with these women because they are already married.

Sometimes, you create separation in a well-established family simply because you don’t want to work for yourself. You treat yourself like a public socket that charges any device, all for the sake of free things from men. You don’t even consider whether you will live or die.

Can’t you remember how your parents suffered during labor to provide for your needs? So ladies, be very serious; otherwise, be a change-maker and inspire others.

Men, especially those in the working class with money, often lead simple lives. That’s why they date you even if you know they are married, and you still fall for them because of the free things they give you. Some young ladies abandon their education simply because someone is giving them money, not realizing that with a good education, money won’t be your primary concern, and no one will harm you.

Today’s world requires a sharing of responsibility, unlike the time when our grandparents lived, where men did everything, and women only cared for the children. That has completely changed.

I appeal to all underage girls, in general, to avoid relying on men’s money and focus on finding employment.
The government should follow up on such cases of men killing women. Such hotels should be put under some strict surveillance.
